Entreprenuer Magazine Philippines have constantly helped entreprenuers through different programs and this free marketing seminar was just one of the many ways they help us. The Seminar was held last April 26,2008 at the La Salle Graduate school in RCBC plaza.
The speakers of the seminar were Josiah and Chiqui Go of Mansmith Marketing. It was a very interesting seminar because they tackled actual business questions that were sent via email by the participants.
The topics that really caught my attention was the elevator pitch, guerrilla marketing, and the blue ocean strategy. Though it was not discussed in detail everyone had the basic knowledge these topics when they left the seminar.
This seminar was advertised only through email.
LA sweeps Denver in their Playoff series April 29, 2008

The Los Angeles Lakers never backed down and clamped on Denver Nuggets as they completed the sweep of the 1st round. The Denver Nuggets made a game out of this one, the best game they might have showed in the series, but its too late.
Kobe Bryant was his usual self, finishing the game with style. The Lakers will face the winner of the Jazz-Rockets series. I personally hope the rockets win against Utah because I feel its about time for Tracy to pass the 1st round. And Im a little biased because I think the Lakers will have a match up advantage on the Rockets compared to the jazz.
But whoever wins the Lakers will definitely be ready to bring on the pain. hahaha

Since the begining of this wonderful club. It is about time to show you guys the men behind the 300 club and the ongoing search for establishments that meets the 300 club requirements.
For those of you who are just reading about the 300 club, the 300 club was established last year by Pierre Tan, Gregory How, and Kenneth Reyes-Lao (me). The members of the group have noticed that there is an upward trend in spending among our peers, neglecting important points in personal finance such as saving, investing, and delayed gratification. The objective of the group is to prove that we can still have go out and have fun with the budget of 300 pesos per person.
The picture above was taken during our road trip to tanay rizal. When everyone was capitalizing on the 3day holiday, and going to boracay (etc.) We were out on a roadtrip spending only for lunch.

LA Lakers trampled on Denver with Team Play April 28, 2008

Lakers continued their streak and beat down the Nuggets to win Game 3 of their first round series. It was a dissapointing loss to the Denver Nuggets especially there was no one to blame but themselves. Denver’s 2 leading scorers AI and Carmelo shot poorly in this game, missing a lot of layups and close shots.
It was evident that the Denver starters were not getting it done when Coach Karl sat most of them in th 4th quarter. The Lakers didnt care about Nugget’s woes they just outplayed, out-perform, and out-classed the struggling nuggets. Kobe led the lakers’ balanced offense with 22 points and all the nuggets can do is pout their way into the locker room.
Lakers is out for blood on game 4 and this could spell SWEEP for for the nugget’s playoff hopes. The last stand is at Denver.

Yoo-hoo BBQ in metrowalk near Ortigas ave, receives the 1st official 300 club accreditaion. clap clap clap!! hahaha We are very pleased to say that Yoo-hoo BBQ has met our criteria requirements and has received high praises from the 300 club.
We went to Yoo-hoo bbq yesterday (Saturday april 26) and it was a great experience. They offer their Beer Bucket (of 5) for 149.00 pesos. On this particular visit we ordered BBQ as our snack for 25.00 pesos per stick. Aside from the price, their BBQ has big portions and it was very good.
Pros for Yoo-hoo
Metrowalk in general has free parking so no hourly rates if you’re going spend a long time dining or hanging out with friends.
Yoo-hoo is open 24 hours
Great food and very affordable.
They have a second floor for the customers who wants to drink beer or dine longer away from the smoke of their grillers on the first floor. They have enough space, decent bathroom and very accomodating staff.
Definitely we will come back here again.
We ordered 2 buckets of beer and 4 BBQ. The total bill was 398 divided by 3 around 133 pesos per person.
Again we would like to congratulate Yoo-Hoo BBQ and keep up the good work you dont know how much your establishment means to the people who wants value for their money.

The 300 club composed of Pierre, Gregory, and myself have decided to put a little purpose in our little club. We will be ranking different establishments that provides food/services that coincides with the thrust of the 300 club which is to have fun and enjoy the night with 300 pesos or less.
We will be judging the establishments that we go to base on the following categories…
1. Price – very important
2. Quality of food and/or service
3. Environment – overall style, look and feel of the place
4. Will we come back to the place or be proud to recommend it to our friends
We will be going around the metro in search for those establishments so watch out for us.
New Bruce Lee Movie (sort of) April 26, 2008

One of the greatest martial artist/movie icons ever, lives in a new movie. Finishing the Game is a mockdocumentary about the search of a young director of a an actor who can play Bruce Lee.
Shortly after Bruce Lee’s death in 1973, a major studio with an unfinished 12-minute action sequence of Bruce Lee decides to create a full-length feature from the vaulted footage. However, in order to make a film without its star, the director must find a replacement for Lee.
Finishing the Game pokes fun at the movie industry making the “bruce lee hopefuls” go through the audition process. If you just want to watch a fun, no-brainer movie to relax then this is one I would suggest watching.
For those of you who still dont know what a mock-documentary is, it’s basically a fake documentary. A prime example of a mock documentary which took the world by storm is the film BORAT.
Kobe shuts up Denver Nuggets in 122-107 win April 25, 2008

With all the back talk coming from the Denver Nuggets, Kobe needed to answer back and he did just that with a win! LA Lakers now leads the series 2-0 against the Nuggets. There is no one in the Denver roster that could guard the King of LA and it was evident in his 49 point and 10 assist performance. Kenyon Martin couldn’t even guard my grandma so he might as well shut up and enjoy the show.
Kobe got hot in the 4th, scoring 19 points in 4 minutes. But even though Bryant was the obvious reason why they won, it was also evident that their teamwork was also in sync. The Lakers logged a total of 33 assists compared to the Nugget’s 12.
Game 3 is in Denver. They might as well stop talking and start defending to make this a series.
Pierre’s KFC Combo Meal April 23, 2008

The 300 club strikes again as Pierre Tan teaches me his version of a KFC combo meal! If we are vigilant enough to analyze the so called value meals that our fast food establishments offer the public, we will realize that we end up actually paying more or paying certain amount for less.
I met Pierre in Gateway mall in Araneta Cubao one Friday afternoon. We were suppose to meet greg that night to hang out but Greg couldnt get off work until later that evening so we decided to grab dinner in the mall. We went to the food court and viewed our choices until he had a sudden desire for KFC chicken. He told me that he would show me his COMBO meal! I was curious as to what he meant by that and later on as he explained to me, I understood his concept of combo meal.
As of this blog there is a KFC fully loaded meal. The meal has a one piece chicken with rice, mushroom soup, mash potato, brownie and softdrinks for 130 pesos(around 4USD). He said that a Fully loaded meal is nothing but side dishes. He told me to order a 1 piece chicken meal which included softdrinks and rice for 75 pesos and a chicken fillet with garlic sauce with rice for only 50 pesos which totalls to 125pesos. I ended up with a 2 chickens 2 rice and a drink for less the price of a fully loaded meal. If you order the 2 piece chicken meal I think its almost the same price as Pierre’s combo meal but you only get one rice. So in the end Pierre’s combo meal trumps the Fully Loaded meal and the 2 pc.Chicken meal in terms of price and value for your money.
We’re sure that there are a lot of people doing the same thing that we are doing. Analyzing for the best deal for you or trying to get value for your money is a discipline. Do not accept that special offer at first glance. Dont let advertisements and pictures fool you when you order fast food. Make the choice to get value for your money. From this practice we will learn to analyze a business opportunity the same way.
Food Channel trip April 22, 2008

The 300 club frequent food channel and it is one of the more cost-friendly food establishments if you know what i mean. hahaha The 2 branches we go to are the ones located in Greenhills shopping center and the one in Edsa Central.
Food Channel is your basic shawarma stall with dimsum on the side. They also sell Shawarma rice for 75 pesos ( that’s what we usually order) and it comes with a free gulaman drink. The branch in Edsa Central is more a hangout place, where you can drink beer and order other meals but in the greenhills branch its more of the take out stall where people just buy and go ( but we usually eat in front of the cashier anyways hahaha)
What I love about Food Channel is the sauce that goes with the shawarma. We tried both eat at both branches already and if you are really particular about the sauce, you’d say that the sauce are different. The one in Greenhills was more spicy than the one in Edsa Central but it’s all good!!
